The two day workshop with Stan Chu ended. My center provided the teachers and some outsiders the opportunity to learn from Stan Chu. Who is he exactly, i'm not so sure.

After the two days, i knew that he was from New York. His school, Bank Street College is situated at New York. Hmm...he has a long beard like Ramli Sarip, a bit bald at the head.

But....this man is really a thinker. He shared with us the Bank Street College approach.

To teach science in children. Science as in the process not the topic.

It was interesting.

On the first day, he made us think of all the possible eating places in singapore. Go to Jurong entertainment, had lunch and made a research. Back at the centre, we went into small groups and were required to set up a different eating places within an hour. With lack of resources and limited time, we tried all we could. My group did a cafe, the rest did food court, coffeeshop, restaurant, fast food.

Then the fun time, each member were to have a job in the eating places created.

The cook, waitress, manager, customers....

It was great to role-play. Just like playing 'masak-masak'.

There's a lesson why we went through this actually...but too long to elaborate here lah.

The second day was the extension of what we learnt from creating the eating places - What we would do if we were to do it the second time...

As children like to re-experience a situation or item. For the every time that the child re-experience the item/situatn, the child found a different thing.

The first time the child experience a item/situatn, is not the same as the 2nd or 3rd time the child experience it.

Ler...looks like cheem, but no lah actually.
